30 Days Wild: Day 11

30 Days Wild: Day 11
Illustrating Ilex (Holm Oak)

There is an avenue of Ilex trees near where I live. The avenue is nearly a mile long and was planted by David Lyon over 180 years ago.

The trees are really called Holm Oak (Quercus ilex). An evergreen oak, it grows naturally in the Mediterranean region so not native here.

It is a popular place for walkers.

I did a bark rubbing, and collected some leaves.

    1. Me neither till I did some research. It's a shame they are not native trees but they've done well here.
